For those passionate about wine and wine-making, there is no need to drive up the coast to Napa when Temecula Valley has what you need and more. For the past ten years, the number of wineries in Temecula has more than doubled. Typically, Napa Valley takes the top honors, but last year at the California State Fair, it was announced that it’s Best of Class and Best of Show wasn’t going to a Napa, but to Temecula Valley.
What makes Temecula Valley an ideal region for winemaking is the hot air that comes from the Desert and the cool breezes that comes in through the Marguerita and De Luz passes. This perfect environment allows vineyards to produce a wide variety of grapes. Some of the wines produced in Temecula wineries are Zinfandel, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The history of wine making starts back in the 1820’s when the first vineyard was established in Temecula at the mission. It wasn’t until the 1960’s when developers first started to create what is known as Wine Country today.
The first two wineries that opened in 1967 and 1968 respectively were Bella Vista Cilurzo Winery and Vineyard and Callaway Winery. Although considered a small wine-making region, Temecula is home to twenty vineyards. Each winery has its own distinct wine and style. Navigating through each vineyard alphabetically, at Alex’s Red Barn Winery, you’ll enjoy Cabernet Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, produced in one of the oldest vineyards in the Valley. Baily’s Vineyard and Winery was established in 1986 and produces mostly Merlot, Meritage and Cabernet Sauvignon from grapes provided by four different vineyards in Temecula.
Bella Vista and Callaway Wineries are next both the oldest vineyards in the Valley and also both produce Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Churon Winery is not only a wine making vineyard but also has accommodations in their charming French Style Chateau Bed & Breakfast. Wines you’ll enjoy here will be Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay.
At Falkner Winery, you’ll be able to sample award-winning wines such as Viognier, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Amante. Both the Hart Winery and Keyways Vineyard & Winery produce Merlot’s and Sauvignon Blanc’s.
For a resort feel, South Coast Winery is a one-stop destination to indulge in your favorite wine or relax in your private villa overlooking the vineyards. Not far way is Thornton Winery who is best known for their Champagne. The Victorian style Maurice Car’rie Winery sits on 46 acres and has a large selection of wines to choose from.
Some other notable wineries in the Valley include Leonesse Cellars, Miramonte Winery, Mount Palomar Winery, Oak Mountain Winery and Palumbo Family Vineyard & Winery who produce 1500 cases of wine each year.
Rounding out the wineries are Stuart Cellars Winery, Wiens Family Cellars, and Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyard. Wilson Creek is known for their incredible Almond Champagne.
The Temecula Valley is fast becoming one the best wine-making regions in Southern California.
Finding your Birth Family

Are you one of the 6 million Americans that are adopted? Are you the parent of a adopted child? Are you the biological parent of a child you put up for adoption? It is estimated that 2% of the population of the United States is an adoptee and furthermore, 1 in every 8 Americans are somehow touched by adoption either by being a biological parent, adoptive parent or sibling.
That being said, most of these people have at some point searched for their biological parents, children or siblings. These searches happen for a myriad of different reasons including medical history and just plain genetic curiosity. Most just have a desire to find out what the birth parent or child looks like and what their personality is. They would just like a chance to look deeper into what their own personal history is.
Whatever your reasons for starting this search it is most likely going to be an emotional and difficult journey. It will be full of highs and very frustrating lows. It is important to follow some steps that are sure to keep you focused on your journey.
At the beginning of your search, your number one objective should be to know the names of your birth parents or of the child you relinquished into adoption. This search should always begin with you. Write down everything you know about your birth and adoption. These things might include the name of the hospital, town or county you were born or which agency handled the adoption. Next, if you are adopted, turn to your adoptive parents, friends or relatives for possible clues. Make sure to keep note of everything they tell you no matter how important it does or does not seem at the time.
After having written down all of the information you can, gather together all available documents. You can ask your relatives, adoptive parents or contact government agencies. These documents could consist of birth certificates (amended and original), petition for adoption and final decrees for adoption.
After having all these documents you should know what state and agency handled the adoption. Contact this agency for your “non-identifying” information. This information will only be released to the adoptee, adoptive parents and birth parents so be prepared to prove who you are. This information will vary depending on the details given at the time of birth and adoption. It could include very little information or could give you clues to medical history, ethnic origin, religion, height and weight. Sometimes reasons for adoption are even recorded along with general location of the birth parents at the time of adoption.
Next, register with a Mutual Consent Registry. These can be managed by private companies or a government agency. There are several of these that allow a member of the adoption to register and possibly be matched with someone who might be looking for them.
It is also recommended to join an adoption support group and/or adoption mailing list. These entities can supply information regarding changing laws, search techniques and search support.
With these beginning tools, your search for adopted parents, siblings or children should be able to get well under way.

Many people have innate creative talents that they would like to turn into a career. They can draw, decorate, paint, sew, or find some other way to make the mundane spectacular. The hardest part is turning this natural creativity into a money-generating medium. What do you do? Do you just go to a company and tell them that you are creative and hope that they will hire you? Are your skills truly refined to the point where you are ready to market them, or do you need the guidance of an experienced professional? Unless you are a once-in-a-generation talent, the odds are very good that you would benefit from an education that will teach you how to use your skills to their fullest potential.
Creativity is needed in every industry we have. Even in the most dirty, utilitarian, mundane professions, companies still need to catch customers’ attention with stunning visual and imaginative aural messages. This requirement for creativity ensures that people with artistic talent will always have a place in the business world. Creative talent is needed in marketing, advertising, interior design, commercial design, industrial design, fashion, web design, and computer gaming, just to name a few professions. To get any one of these jobs, talent is not enough. You will also need to prove that you have what it takes. This requires getting an education to learn how to use your talent for something useful.
Education in the arts can be done in many ways. Prospective students have several choices. Art institutions specialize in training talented young artists to be masters of their craft. These institutions are usually reserved for the best and brightest, and immerse the student in his art to teach him as much as possible. Students can also attend traditional colleges and take classed in the different arts programs. A new and growing method of art instruction is the Internet. Just like other online learning programs, art students, especially in the computer arts, are able to take classes online without ever having to attend an actual classroom.
Art students can achieve different levels of education, depending on their drive and determination. Certificate programs are available for the student that wants to learn specific skills. These programs usually focus on a single area and are shorter than degree programs. For those who want an education that provides more information and training, students can attend colleges to earn Associate’s degrees or Bachelor’s degrees. The Associate’s degree teaches more than the certificate programs, but the lessons are usually very broad and do not touch on the specifics. The Bachelor’s programs offer more learning opportunities, and give the student a chance to specialize in an art subject and learn quite a bit. For those who want to be recognized as experts in their chosen art field, Master’s level degrees are available. These degrees are the most difficult to get, and require going through the Bachelor’s level first.
Creativity is often an innate ability. However, without formal instruction, the odds of you turning your natural skills into a way to make money are not very good.

Orange County is one of the most visited places in the world. Most people who live here or visit may be unfamiliar with its rich history and culture. Orange County strives to preserve its past to share with future generations.
Orange County’s land had been inhabited by members of the Tongva and Juaneno Native Americans. Some of its first recorded history began in 1769 when Gaspar de Portola’s Spanish expedition led by Junipero Serra named the area Valle de Santa Ana or Valley of Saint Anne. On November 1, 1776, Mission San Juan Capistrano became the area’s first permanent European settlement. Some of the earliest settlers who came with Portola and were awarded land grants were Jose Manuel Nieto and Jose Antonio Yorba. Yorba became a Corporal under Portola and his land comprised of a Yorba’s land comprises a large portion of today’s Orange County such as Orange, Villa Park, Santa Ana, Tustin, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Other land was granted by the Mexican government.
A severe drought in the 1860’s devastated the area. But, when silver was discoved in the Santa Ana Mountains in 1887, it attracted settlers that came by the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific Railroads. Due to this substantial growth, the California legislature at the time proceeded to divide Los Angeles County and created Orange County as a separate entity on March 11, 1889. Orange Counites namesake is said to have been derived from it’s most popular product, citrus fruit. Orange County’s early economy was driven by avocados, citrus groves and oil extraction.
When the Pacific Electric Railway, built by Henry Huntington, was completed in July 1904, it connected Santa Ana with Los Angeles and Newport beach making the County easily accessible. Henry Huntington was one of the men instrumental in the creation of the transcontinental railroad. The city of Huntington Beach is named in honor of Henry Huntington.
Agriculature began to decline after World War II. However, in 1954, Interstate 5 was completed that made Orange County a truly commuter community with more people moving to the County for work in manufacturing and aerospace. The County’s economy was also given a boost in 1955 when Walt Disney opened the doors to Disneyland.
In 1969, one of Orange County’s own, Richard Nixon, became the 37th President of the United States. Today, The Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace is visited by hundreds of people each year.
In the 1980’s, Orange County’s population soared to over 2 million residents making Orange County the second largest county in California. Although the County had some financial difficulties, it has bounced back and recovered from this time period. Today, Orange County continues to grow and blossom into one of the premier tourist destinations in the world. It’s climate, beaches and attractions like Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park and Disneyland in Anaheim.
Orange County continues to enrich the lives of the people who live here and visit.

Spying with a CCTV Home Security System

Surveillance and spying is not only for suspicious spouses, private eyes and government officials; these days home security protection systems using Closed Circuit Television are common. With crime rates increasing in neighborhoods everywhere, the popularity of home security systems has exploded. People are finding that CCTV security is an effective deterrent to criminal activity where ever these systems are installed. Furthermore, in the event a crime is carried out within view of a CCTV camera, the chances of identifying, arresting and prosecuting a perpetrator are significantly increased.
CCTV has long been the tool of choice for surveillance professionals requiring proof of activities by particular parties. CCTV home security systems are the perfect choice for those who wish to monitor activity inside the home. Additionally, CCTV outdoor security systems make it easy to monitor all around the outside of the yard. Cameras with viewing distances of up to 45’ in the dark of night (with infrared technology) enable the homeowner to view driveways, parking areas, yards and landscaped areas; in other words, any area within view of system cameras.
Home CCTV cameras are in huge demand as a crime preventative measure; they protect the home from vandalism, burglary and other nefarious activities. Most homes with home security systems display signage warning that the home is protected with a security system. Most criminals will take the warning to heart and move on to an unprotected target. If they are not wise enough to move on, recorded images from the home security system will surely help convict them if they intrude in your home.
However, Home CCTV cameras and security systems have uses far beyond home security. Do you have a loved one in an assisted living or long term care facility? Have you ever noticed unexplained bruises on your loved one or are they looking terribly unkempt? Have you wished you could be a mouse in the corner for a day or so to watch how your loved one is being cared for? A CCTV camera hidden in your loved one’s room can answer your care concerns. A recording CCTV system captures and saves images of activities in the room to document abuse and neglect; these images are considered evidentiary in nature. There is no better way to assure that your loved one is treated kindly and well by the facility staff than to install a hidden CCTV system and document their care.
Do your children cry when the nanny reports for duty? Have your children undergone an unexplained change in behavior or do they seem to suffer from an inordinate amount of “accidents”? It is time to spy on the activities in your home. Install a hidden CCTV security system to remotely monitor the activities in your home so you know exactly what is going on while you are out. PC-Based CCTV Systems enable the viewer to monitor activity from their PC, cell phone, PDA or laptop. Be sure to opt for a CCTV system capable of recording from the cameras; if you find abusive behavior occurring the recorded images are what the police need to make charges stand up in court.
CCTV home security systems can be used at home, at the office, in the shop, in the barn and even in vehicles. Protect your family, your property and your interests with a CCTV home security system from dreamstardirect.com.

Illinois State
Apart from a few thousand nomadic Indians and the remaining French settlers and their slaves, Illinois was largely uninhabited before 1815; two years after statehood, the population barely exceeded 55,000. The withdrawal of British influence after the War of 1812 and the final defeat of the Indian tribes in the Black Hawk War of 1832 opened the fertile prairies to settlers from the south, especially Kentucky. The federal government owned most of the land, and its land offices did a fast business on easy terms. Before the 1830s, most of the pioneers were concerned with acquiring land titles and pursuing subsistence agriculture, supplemented by hunting and fishing. An effort in 1824 to call a constitutional convention to legalize slavery failed because of a widespread fear that rich slaveholders would seize the best land, squeezing out the poor yeoman farmers. Ambitious efforts in the 1830s to promote rapid economic development led to fiscal disaster. Three state banks failed; a lavish program of building roads, canals, and railroads totally collapsed, leaving a heavy state debt that was not paid off until 1880. Despite these setbacks, the steady influx of land-hungry poor people and the arrival after 1840 of energetic Yankee entrepreneurs, all attracted by the rich soil and excellent water routes, guaranteed rapid growth in Illinois.
Although Illinois gradually eliminated French slavery and even served as a conduit to Canada for slaves escaping from the South, the state was deeply divided over the slavery issue and remained unfriendly territory for blacks and their defenders. The abolitionist leader Elijah P. Lovejoy was killed in Alton in 1837, and as late as 1853 the state passed legislation providing that free blacks entering Illinois could be sold into slavery. In 1856, however, the new Republican Party nominated and Illinois voters elected a governor, William H. Bissell, on a reform program that included support for school construction, commercial and industrial expansion, and abolition of slavery. During the Civil War, Illinois sent half its young men to the battlefield and supplied the Union armies with huge amounts of food, feed, and horses. The strong-handed wartime administration of Republican Governor Richard Yates guaranteed full support for the policies of Abraham Lincoln, who had been prominent in Illinois political life since the 1840s and had been nominated for the presidency in 1860 at a Republican convention held in Chicago. Democratic dissenters were suppressed, sometimes by force, leaving a legacy of bitter feuds that troubled the “Egypt” section (the southern third of the state) for decades thereafter.
Illinois Economic Growth
Economic and population growth quickened after 1865, as exemplified by the phenomenal rise of Chicago to become the principal city of the Midwest. Responding to opportunities presented by the coming of the railroads, boosters in hundreds of small towns and cities built banks, grain elevators, retail shops, small factories, ornate courthouses, and plain schools, in an abundance of civic pride. The Democrats sought the support of the working class and small farmers, assuming an attitude of hostility toward banks, high railroad freight rates, protective tariffs, and antiunion employers, but they failed to impose any significant restraints on business expansion. They were more successful, however, in opposing prohibition and other “paternalistic” methods of social control demanded by reformers such as Frances Willard, a leader in the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, and the Prohibition Party. In Chicago and other cities the Democrats were less concerned with social reform than with building lucrative political machines on the backs of the poor Irish, Polish, and Czech Catholic immigrants, who kept arriving in large numbers. Statewide, Illinois retained a highly competitive two-party system, even as the excitement and high voter turnouts characteristic of 19th-century elections faded rapidly in the early 20th century.
During the second half of the 19th century, Illinois was a center of the American labor movement. Workers joined the Knights of Labor in the 1870s and 1880s and fought for child-labor laws and the eight-hour day. Union organizing led to several spectacular incidents, including the Haymarket riot in 1886 and the violent Pullman strike in 1894, suppressed by federal troops at the behest of President Grover Cleveland. A coalition of Germans, labor, and small farmers elected John Peter Altgeld to the governorship in 1892. After 1900, Illinois became a center of the Progressive movement, led by Jane Addams and Republican Governor Frank Lowden. Lowden reorganized the state government in 1917 by placing experts in powerful positions in state and municipal administrations.

But, not all of Nashville’s festivals and events are musical. There is always a good selection of things to do in Nashville. In January, Nashville celebrates the Commemoration of the Battle of New Orleans. The ceremony is held at the Hermitage around Andrew Jackson’s tomb. This year marks the 195th anniversary of the American victory at the Battle of New Orleans, which ended the War of 1812, sometimes referred to as the “Second War of Independence.” There is a traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of President Andrew Jackson along with U.S. Congressman Jim Cooper, 5th Congressional District of Tennessee, as the keynote speaker. In addition, there will be costumed interpreter-led tours of Jackson’s home.
In the spring, March brings the Music City Blues Celebration held in downtown Nashville. March marks the birth of Andrew Jackson and each year a memorial service is held a The Hermitage, his family home, along with a wreath-laying ceremony.

Google Trends versus Google Hot Topics

One of the tools that Google has provided for a while is called Google Trends. Originally it provided a list of the 100 trendiest searched phrases of the past hour, updated each hour. By trendy, they mean search phrases that are exhibiting the most increased volume over their usual volume. This was a great way for people to see what was popular or where the internet buzz was leading. Unfortunately a large number of blog writers decided that they could use this list to write blog entries that were stuffed with the key phrases from the most recent Google Hot Trends and that they could garner large amounts of web traffic as long as interest in those termed remained high. Often this was a period of several hours, but sometimes it would last for days.
These blog writers would write several of these entries each day and drew many thousands of visitors to their websites each day. Unfortunately, those visitors would be sorely disappointed when they got there since the keyword stuffed copy was largely unreadable and sometimes even nonsensical. The bloggers, however, hoped that these visitors would click out of their sites through some paying ad. They weren’t out to build a brand or repeat visitors, they were out for a quick buck. This worked because Google Trends search phrases were often related to very current events and were not generally terms that had been widely written about on the web previously. New entries, therefore, were able to gain high Google search engine ranking almost immediately upon being posted.
Over time, Google started to get wise to this trick, they have reduced the number of popular search phrases in their list. From 100 it dropped to 40, and then down to the top 20 searches phrases. Since the list is comprised of exact search phrases, there are often several relating to the same topic, such that there may be only 10-12 different subjects on the Google Trends list at any given hour.
In the meantime, Google has begun also displaying Google Hot Topics alongside Google Trends. Google Hot Topics are more general in nature than Google Trends. Google Hot Topics doesn’t list exact search phrases being used by web searchers. Instead it lists broader categories. Instead of “Latest Tiger Woods Mistress,” which one might find on Google Trends, Google Hot Topics might simply have the listing “Tiger Woods.”
Writers using Google Hot Topics might find broad subject matter, but would need some other source or sources of information in order to figure out what exactly about Tiger Woods was catching the public interest. While that’s not terribly difficult, it does provide some defense against automated keyword stuffing algorithms and ensures that the writer at least has access to some actual information before they start creating blog entries. The point for Google, of course, is that they want to make sure that people who use their search engine find relevant results for their searches instead of keyword stuffed spam.
Given the trend of Google Trends, it would not be entirely unexpected to see Google Trends phased out altogether in favor of Google Hot Topics in the not too distant future.

For the last ten years, every January Atlanta has played host to the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival also known at the AJFF. The festival features more than fifty contemporary narrative and documentary films and represents twenty nations that explore univerisal stories with Jewish themes.
This unique and popular film festival is a 12-day cinematic view of Jewish life, culture and history. The festival will be held at three distinct areas of Atlanta: North Metro, Sandy Spring and Midtown. The overall theme of this festival is to use the power of film to both entertain and educate, and depict challenging issues facing both the Jewish and global communities. Specifically, the festival features a varied film line-up, focusing not only on the obvious aspects of Jewish life, but on the new and the undiscovered.
Founded in 2000, AJFF ranks as the largest film festival in Atlanta, and second largest Jewish film festival in the United States. AJFF attracts an audience of 17,000 moviegoers, and features an international collection of features and shorts narrative and documentary films . Screenings are supplemented by guest appearances with filmmakers, actors, authors, academics and other expert speakers. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and National Endowment for the Arts, has recognized AJFF with grants and is generously supported by more than 120 other sponsors.
Each year a committee carefully pre-screens some 400 entries, evaluating both Jewish content and artistic quality. At the end of the process, only the best of the best make the final cut. Moviegoers cast their ballots for the Best Narrative and Best Documentary film of the festival, with winners receiving the AJFF Audience Award. Winning films are honored with a special encore showing, and the director presented with an original handcrafted AJFF Audience Award statuette.
The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival is a production of the Atlanta Chapter of American Jewish Committee, an international advocacy organization that works to build bridges of understanding between ethnic, religious and national groups. It is the enduring belief of American Jewish Committee that understanding grows out of shared experiences, and stories are often the best way to foster such experiences. More than just “a night at the movies,” film is contemporary storytelling with the ability to impact the way audiences feel, think and behave after leaving the theater.
Other film festivals are held in Atlanta each year. This year, the entire month of August has been declared Independent Film month. Other film festivals in August include Shortfest featuring some of the worlds best films under 26 minutes, Atlanta Horror Film Festival, DocuFest Atlanta featuring best documentarys in the world and the Atlanta Underground Film Festival.
